For Veterans

You Served. Now Let Us Serve You.

Veterans face unique challenges — combat trauma, military sexual trauma, the transition to civilian life, and a culture that stigmatizes asking for help. At Speranza Behavioral Health, we understand what you've been through, and we provide the specialized, evidence-based treatment that works for veterans.

Why Veterans Need Specialized Treatment

Veterans experience addiction and mental health conditions at rates significantly higher than the general population. The experiences of military service — combat exposure, multiple deployments, military sexual trauma, traumatic brain injury, and the loss of brothers and sisters in arms — create wounds that don't heal on their own.

These experiences often lead to PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use as a way to cope with symptoms that feel unbearable. The military culture of toughness and self-reliance can make it even harder to ask for help — but reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. It's what you'd tell a fellow veteran to do.

Combat Trauma & PTSD

Combat exposure can cause PTSD that persists for decades without treatment. We use evidence-based trauma therapies including EMDR and CPT.

Military Sexual Trauma

MST affects both men and women in the military. We provide a safe, confidential space to process and heal from these experiences.

Transition to Civilian Life

Leaving the military can create a loss of identity, purpose, and community that drives isolation and substance use.

Co-Occurring Disorders

Veterans often face PTSD, depression, and addiction simultaneously. We treat all conditions together, not separately.

How We Treat Veterans

Our treatment approach for veterans is grounded in evidence-based therapies proven effective for military-related trauma and addiction:

  • EMDR Therapy — a gold-standard treatment for PTSD that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer trigger intense emotional reactions.
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) — a structured therapy that helps veterans identify and change unhelpful beliefs that developed after trauma.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — teaches emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness — skills that are essential for veterans managing PTSD symptoms.
  • Group Therapy with Peer Veterans — there's no substitute for the understanding of fellow veterans. We connect veterans with peers who have walked the same path.
  • Family Programming — addiction and PTSD affect the whole family. We include spouses and family members in the recovery process.

VA Community Care & Insurance

If the VA can't provide the care you need in a timely manner, the VA Community Care program allows you to receive treatment from a community provider like Speranza Behavioral Health — at no cost to you. We work with the VA Community Care program and can help you understand your options.

We also accept most major commercial insurance plans, TRICARE, and work with veterans who are uninsured. Our admissions team will verify your benefits at no cost and explain exactly what's covered.

The Veterans Crisis Line

If you're a veteran in crisis — having thoughts of suicide, struggling with intense emotions, or feeling like you can't go on — the Veterans Crisis Line is available 24/7. You don't have to be enrolled in VA benefits to use it.
